For those of you interested in more adventurous treks and climbs, the steel cable that hangs down the 220-meter vertical drop of Sugarloaf mountain is the route for you.  We start by taking the easy trek up Morro da Urce until the base of the mountain.  From there a short artificial climb is required to reach to cable.  Once clipped into the cable we will continue by pulling ourselves up, hand over hand, step by step, all the way up to the base of the cable car station.  This route requires a lot of upper body strength, a good sense balance, and the use of safety equipment.   You climb up directly under the cable car route and have an incredible view of the city, the sea, and the forest below.  You come  out at the base of the station, and are often times greeted by a flourish of photos and applause by the on looking tourists that saw you climbing up from their view in that cable car.  Once we take the free cable ride down to Morro da Urca, you will understand why they are so impressed as you get great view of the route you just climbed.

Altitude: 396 m  (220m of cable)

Difficulty/Duration: Very Hard, ½ day

Features: 90 degree climb to top of Sugarloaf mountain, free entrance to cable car station, all equipment provided
