The boat, the
ANCORAUÊ, is a 36-foot sloop, built in 2002 with European craftsmanship
in the south of Brazil. The Cabinho
design is well founded, providing a comfortable, safe, and strong cruiser. I have tried several times to take
appropriate photographs showing the boat layout, but can’t seem to get the right
lighting. If you want to see what the interior of the boat looks
like, go to http://www.bb36.com.br/ and click on “FOTOS” and “ FICHA
TÉCNICA” to get an idea of the general layout (the photos are of a
sistership…the ANCORAUÊ is newer).
The ANCORAUÊ is located in the Marina da Gloria, near downtown Rio. She has all of the necessary and required safety and emergency gear for sailing in the Rio area or for longer trips along the coast. Further, she is equipped with state of the art electronics, including two GPS Chart plotters, autopilot, VHF radio, two depth sounders (one forward looking sonar), wind instruments and radar as well as first aid kits, life jackets, tethers and harnesses, and rain gear. Sails include Main, 150% Genoa and cruising gennaker. The auxiliary motor is a Yanmar GM30M with fuel capacity sufficient for over 120 hours of motoring. We can provide a detailed list of all equipment and features on board… just ask.
In addition to safety and electronic equipment,
ANCORAUÊ has many amenities for comfortable and relaxing sailing and
cruising. Hot and cold running
water, head, showers (inside and on swim deck), stove, barbecue and fridge, fans
in each cabin, bimini and dodger, boarding ladder, electronic anchor winch, two
anchors and a dingy with outboard motor to get us to the secluded beaches,
restaurants and hidden inlets. We
provide floats and snorkeling gear as well as a good selection of music
CDs. Also, at night while at
anchor, we have a selection of percussion instruments and an accomplished music
instructor to teach you the mysterious Brazilian rhythms, if you
desire.
There is space to sleep seven people, but that gets a bit crowded, so we recommend a maximum of four passengers for overnight trips; for day trips, six is a nice number.
